Round two of the DTRA 2014 championships saw a record entry for a UK dirt track race. Over seventy riders across eight classes lined up at the excellent oval racing facility in the heart of the UK. Sun cream and ice creams were the order of the day for riders and spectators alike.
Aidan Collins was again under pressure from the rest of the pro grid under hot and dusty conditions. It was a constant battle with the sun to keep moisture on the track. The heats provided some excellent racing and the final looked to be open to a number of riders. It was however Collins who made it count in the main event with a clear win over brothers Tom and Tim Neave. Tom was able to put Collins under some pressure during the mid-section of the final but was not able to pass Collins. Tim Neave managed to hold a great 3rd place ahead of the team Kawasaki riders Alan Birtwistle and Oliver Brindley. Making a guest appearance at Coventry was rider number 7 Freddie Sheene. Sheene had some great heat results but failed to make a big impression in the final.
